Royal Jelly
The product is the secretion of nurse bees produced in the maxillary allotropic glands. The substance is intended for feeding queen bee larvae in the first three days of life. The main consumer of the nutrient is the queen bee. She, unlike the rest of the offspring, feeds on milk throughout her life. As a result, her life expectancy is much higher than that of wards. A common bee lives 60-80 days. The life span of a queen bee is 5-7 years. This is already a confirmation of the miraculous powers of the product.
In addition, thanks to the “milk” diet, the mother of the bee family gains the ability to reproduce and increase the composition of the bee family. Its staple food is rich in hormones. In a day, one uterus lays so many eggs that its total weight is several times greater than its own (up to 2000 pieces). The highly nutritious menu also gives her such enviable fertility.
Worker bees deposit milk in special queen cells, which outwardly resemble the well-known honeycombs. Collecting this material is a laborious and lengthy process that can only be carried out at certain times of the year. Only professionals are engaged in this since there is a very high risk of spoiling the product and even causing irreparable harm to the entire bee family.
Due to this, the cost of the mother substance remains quite high. Previously, only blue-blooded persons could afford to include it in the diet. For such elitism, the product was awarded a quite specific name - "royal jelly".
Only the product extracted from the hive has its native form. While it is “alive”, its healing potential is the highest. But after a few hours, the substance is aging and deteriorating due to oxidation. For the compound to retain its useful properties as long as possible, it must be processed. There are the following methods of preservation of the mother product:
- freezing in insulin syringes;
- adsorption (rubbing with glucose and lactose followed by drying);
- lyophilization (freezing and drying under vacuum);
- compound with alcohol (for external use);
- mixing with honey.
The last variant of product processing is considered to be the most effective way of natural storage of a substance. Acacia honey is most often used for this since this variety remains liquid all year round.
